In 2009 we were proud and pleased to publish the Syrian author Rafik Schami's epic generational novel The Dark Side of Love. Translated by the award winning Anthea Bell, an extract from The Dark Side of Love appeared in the Spring issue of Banipal, the Magazine of Modern Arab Literature. Rafik Schami won the Herman Hesse Prize in 1994, the Hans-Erich-Nossack Prize in 1997, and the Nelly Sachs Prize in 2006.
